Giants, Penny agree to minor league deal (AP)

Brad Penny and the Giants agreed to a minor league contract Monday night, adding another proven arm to San Francisco's strong rotation for the stretch run. Penny cleared waivers after he was released by Boston last week. Because he reached a deal with San Francisco by Aug. 31, he is eligible for postseason play with the Giants.

Texans QB Schaub sprains left ankle (AP)

Texans quarterback Matt Schaub has sprained his left ankle against the Vikings. Schaub appeared to hurt his ankle when he get tangled up at the line on a touchdown run by Steve Slaton with about four minutes left in the first half Monday night. He got his ankle taped and returned for the last series of the second quarter, where he completed two passes before Houston kicked a field goal.
