Halladay 3-hits slumping Red Sox, 12-0 (AP)

Boston Red Sox pitcher Josh Beckett(notes) smiles in the dugout after catcher Dusty Brown(notes) came in from pitching relief in the ninth inning against the Toronto Blue Jays in a baseball game at Fenway Park in Boston on Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2009. Brown is the third position player to pitch for the Red Sox this season. The Blue Jays won 12-0.

Roy Halladay keeps showing the Blue Jays what they'll be missing if they trade him. The big name on the market at the non-waiver deadline two months ago, Halladay wrapped up his season — and perhaps his tenure with Toronto — by throwing a three-hitter for his second consecutive shutout in a 12-0 win over the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday night.

Judge rejects both bids to buy Coyotes (AP)

FILE- In this Sept. 2, 2009, file photo, Canadian billionaire Jim Balsillie arrives at Federal Court in Phoenix for the Phoenix Coyotes bankruptcy hearing. Balsillie has pledged to keep the Coyotes in Glendale this season if he wins an auction for the financially troubled club. His attorneys say the club would play in Glendale this season, which opens Oct. 3, but Balsillie still intends to move the team to Hamilton, Ontario, as part of his $242.5 million bid.

A bankruptcy judge has rejected both bids to buy the Phoenix Coyotes. Judge Redfield T. Baum turned down the offers of Canadian billionaire Jim Balsillie and the NHL in a 31-page ruling on Wednesday. However, he left the door open for the NHL to buy the team if it amends its offer to treat Coyotes owner Jerry Moyes and Wayne Gretzky more fairly.
