Surgery may sideline Shaq until playoffs (AP)

Shaquille O’Neal’s regular season could be over. Now the Cavaliers hope the center they acquired for the postseason will be back in time for the playoffs. O’Neal will undergo surgery Monday to repair his injured right thumb. He was examined Sunday by Dr. Thomas Graham at the National Hand Center in Baltimore.

Mahan edges Fowler to win Phoenix Open (AP)

Rickie Fowler reacts to missing a putt for birdie that would have tied him for the lead with Hunter Mahan on the 18th hole during the final round of the Phoenix Open PGA golf tournament Sunday, Feb. 28, 2010, in Scottsdale, Ariz. Fowler came in second, one stroke behind Mahan.

Hunter Mahan came from four strokes back to beat Rickie Fowler by a shot to claim the Phoenix Open title Sunday. The 27-year-old Mahan had an eagle and a pair of birdies in a late four-hole span to finish at 16-under 268 for his second PGA Tour victory. The first came at the Travelers Championship in 2007.

Quinn wins Nationwide event in Panama (AP)

U.S golfer Brian Smock pitches to the 2th green during the final round of the Nationwide golf tournament in Panama City, Sunday, Feb. 28, 2010.  Smock ended in second place with -13 under par.

Fran Quinn won the Panama Championship for his fourth career Nationwide Tour title, shooting a 1-over 71 for a two-stroke victory over Brian Smock. Quinn had a tournament-record 15-under 265 total at Panama Golf Club “I made it interesting for everyone,” said Quinn, the 44-year-old Massachusetts native who took a five-stroke lead into the final round.
